Ingenuity within ancient walls

The impressive walls of the Gaudenz Farm Distillery conceal a rich history, which began in 1348 with the man who built it, Gaudenz von Partschins. Over the course of the centuries numerous owners followed the knight with the auspicious name (Gaudenz comes from the Latin "gaudere", which roughly means "enjoy" or "delight").

Finally, in 1792 the clerk of Merano, Anton Simon von Isser acquired the Tower of Gaudenz. His descendants live on and farm the estate to the present day, and have breathed the proverbial new life into the ancient walls with their passion for fine wines and spirits.
